TikTok has a built-in scheduler, but it's easy to miss because it isn't in the phone app. This guide covers how to use it, who can, its limits, and when a scheduling tool makes more sense.
Everything here was checked on 6 October 2026.
Schedule a TikTok from your computer
- Go to tiktok.com in a desktop browser, sign in and open TikTok Studio (the Upload button takes you there).
- Choose your video.
- Write the caption, pick a cover and choose who can watch.
- Switch on Schedule and pick a date and time.
- Click Schedule.
TikTok lets you schedule anywhere from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead.
Who can schedule on TikTok
Scheduling is for Creator and Business accounts. If you don't see the Schedule switch, check your account type in TikTok's settings; personal accounts may not have it. It's also desktop only: the phone app has drafts, but no scheduler.
The limits of TikTok's scheduler
- Desktop only. The scheduler lives in TikTok Studio on the web.
- 10 days maximum. Planning a month of content means coming back every week or so.
- Videos only. Photo carousels, playlists and LIVEs can't be scheduled natively.
- No editing. You can't edit a scheduled video. To change the caption or time, delete it and upload it again.
- TikTok only. If the same video is going to YouTube Shorts, that's a separate upload in YouTube Studio.
TikTok's limits at a glance
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| How far ahead | 15 minutes to 10 days |
| Where | Desktop browser (TikTok Studio) |
| Accounts | Creator or Business |
| Caption | 2,200 characters |
| Video length | Depends on your account: up to 10 minutes when uploading from the app, longer from a computer for some accounts |
| Photo posts | Can't be scheduled natively |
When a scheduling tool makes sense
A tool is worth it if you post the same video to TikTok and YouTube, want to plan more than 10 days ahead, schedule photo posts, or want everything on one calendar. With Postbase:
- Connect TikTok on the Channels page. You sign in on TikTok's own screen.
- Upload the video once in the composer, and pick YouTube too if you like.
- Set the TikTok options: who can view it, whether people can comment, duet or stitch, and whether it promotes your own brand or is a paid partnership.
- Pick a time, or click an open slot on the calendar, and schedule it.
Available channels
Customize per channel
New on the shelf: Kochere, Ethiopia ☕️ Washed process, light roast. In the cup it's apricot, black tea and a little bergamot. Roasted Monday, shipped Tuesday. 40 bags this week, and they go fast.
Postbase posts through TikTok's official Content Posting API. One thing to know right now: TikTok reviews every app before it can post publicly, and Postbase's review for public posting is still in progress. Until it's approved, TikToks scheduled from Postbase go out as private (only you can see them). You can then switch a video to public in the TikTok app. We'll update this guide the day that changes.
Photo posts
TikTok also supports photo posts, a swipeable carousel of images with music. TikTok's own scheduler can't schedule them, but Postbase can: add up to 35 images instead of a video.
Post the same video to TikTok and YouTube Shorts
Vertical videos usually work on both. In Postbase, add the video once, pick both channels, and write a caption for each: TikTok's caption is the whole description, while YouTube needs a title (from the first line) and a description. Both go out at the time you pick. There's more in How to schedule YouTube videos and Shorts.
Common problems and fixes
There's no Schedule switch. You're on a personal account or in the phone app. Switch to a Creator or Business account, and use TikTok Studio in a desktop browser.
The date picker stops at 10 days. That's TikTok's limit. Schedule the rest later, or use a tool that holds the video and posts it when the time comes.
I need to change a scheduled video's caption. TikTok can't edit a scheduled video. Delete it and schedule it again, or, in Postbase, edit it any time before it goes out.
A tool's TikTok post came out private. Every TikTok app starts limited to private posts until TikTok approves it for public posting. Change the video's visibility in the TikTok app, and check whether your tool has been approved.
Tips for scheduled TikToks
- Keep the first second strong. Scheduling doesn't change the algorithm, but posting consistently does help.
- Write the caption for search. People search TikTok like a search engine, and captions can be up to 2,200 characters.
- Label paid partnerships. TikTok requires it, and a scheduler should make it easy.
- Batch your week. Film several videos in one sitting and schedule them across the week.
Frequently asked questions
Can you schedule TikTok videos on your phone?
Not with TikTok's own scheduler, which only works in a desktop browser through TikTok Studio. The phone app can save drafts but not schedule them.
How far in advance can you schedule a TikTok?
With TikTok's scheduler, from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead. A scheduling tool can hold a video for longer and post it at the time you choose.
Do you need a Business account to schedule on TikTok?
You need a Creator or Business account. Personal accounts may not see the Schedule option.
Can you schedule TikTok photo posts?
Not with TikTok's built-in scheduler, which handles videos only. Tools that use TikTok's Content Posting API, like Postbase, can schedule photo posts.
Can you edit a scheduled TikTok?
Not in TikTok. You have to delete the scheduled video and upload it again. In a scheduling tool you can usually edit a post until it goes out.
Do scheduled TikToks get less reach?
TikTok hasn't said that scheduled posts are treated differently. Consistency, the first second and the caption matter far more than how the video was posted.
